Dadaeast: Baby Heracles

Baby Heracles is a playful infant hero the subtle nuances of which reveal all the styles Dadaeast has been playing as Dj Dado for decades.

Not many can make music that is minimalistic and rudimentary at its core but references so much at the same time; that uses a fairly limited array of sounds but has as many layers as a baklava. Dadaeast is one of the few. Many know him as Dj Dado or Mr. Tado. A true veteran to the game with a true school approach who has done more than just a couple of laps around the block. With the album Baby Heracles and a new nickname (a nod to the avant-garde “protest through nonsense”), Dadaeast invites us to his own intriguingly bizzare world neatly arranged on the edge of the absurd. Never dull, monotonous or too repetitive, it wears so much under its hat: it is head-nodding, danceable, melodic, humoruos, metaphorical, quirky, weird, accessible, unpredictable, spacious … all at once. Baby Heracles is a playful infant hero the subtle nuances of which reveal all the styles Dadaeast has been playing as Dj Dado for decades. Breaks, Electro, Dub, IDM, Hiphop … can all be heard echoing somewhere between the beats.

Dadaeast is a legend of Slovenian underground scene, ex singer of band Srečna mladina, scratch guy for Magnifico, half or third of project Ironic Tronic, raper in Šlagwerk, main guy in his alterego moniker Mr. Tado, etcetera. In his 20 years plus long spanning career he was a pioneer in Slovenian hiphop and breakbeat scene, godfather of electro dj-ing and so on. Now, he is working as a producer as Dadaeast, under which he is working on a mixture of organic and programmed music. After the debut single Permanent Vacation for Beton Records and Bentos Zoo Vol. 1 in 2 for Annuaki Records he is back to work with full album of his new idiosincratic mixture of electro, hiphop, breakbeat and heavy sampledelia.
